Oxfordshire Community First Small and Mighty

What is the Small and Mighty? 

The Small and Mighty (SaM) Support Programme, funded by the National Lottery, is a four-year partnership of local organisations offering advice and support for small community groups. 

Community First Oxfordshire, OCVA, Oxford Community Action, Volunteer Link Up West Oxfordshire and Charity Mentors Oxfordshire – all of which support community infrastructure and the voluntary sector – have come together to boost their support for the smallest organisations in Oxfordshire. 

Who are the ‘Small and Mighty’? 

A diverse range of community and charity groups in Oxfordshire with annual budgets up to £100,000 a year. They make up three quarters of Oxfordshire’s voluntary and community sector, rely nearly entirely on volunteers, and are central to our local communities. 

What support does the programme offer? 

Our report last year, highlighted that our voluntary sector is facing four key challenges: finding and keeping volunteers, funding, getting their voice heard, and working together. 

Led by 5 dedicated members of staff with wider support from all the organisations involved, the Small and Mighty programme responds to these challenges by offering: 

• Advice and support outreach clinics  

• Collaboration and networking opportunities 

• Volunteer advice and showcases  

• Mentoring support and training sessions
